Entropy Points (EP), explained

RNGdle.net uses its own transparent rarity score. It does not attempt to reproduce a private scoring formula from any other site, and it does not claim to compute another product's exact EP value.

What "entropy" means for a number

In information theory, entropy measures surprise. An outcome that almost always happens carries little information; a rare outcome carries a lot. Applied to numbers, a property shared by half of all numbers is unremarkable, while one shared by a few dozen numbers is highly informative. That is exactly the quantity RNGdle.net measures with -log2(probability) for each detected trait.

How RNGdle.net scores instead of EP

Rather than a single opaque point value, RNGdle.net sums the information content of a number's traits — after de-duplicating related properties — and maps the result to an exact percentile across the whole range. The score is reproducible, the trait counts are published, and the algorithm is versioned, so any result can be explained and re-derived.

Why transparency matters

A rarity score is only trustworthy if you can check it. Because every count comes from a full enumeration of 1,000,001 numbers, you can verify any claim on the methodology page — no hidden multipliers, no invented statistics.
